Odd Fashion for Weird People.

Reflection of Culture: Western

I know everyone has heard of the Western Culture. We tend to shove it down other people’s throat whether they like it or not.

I will admit, what you are seeing if the seventh iteration of this design. Because I was doing this Collection for a religious school, some part of it had to relate to the Christian Bible. I figured a pretty big part of western culture is the Bible.

(Just look on google maps how many churches there are in the united states).

But, being the horror nerd I am, I wanted to add a sense of classical horror.

What’s horrific in the Bible? Well, Biblically accurate angels, of course.

Originally, the gown was much different and the fitted corset had hand-painted biblically accurate angels on them, but that felt a little too “costume-y” to me. I figured a pretty big staple of the western culture, besides McDonald’s, was the stained glass.

Every older church I’ve seen in my years of living in the US have had these beautiful, picturesque stained glass windows. I figured it would be quite fitting for a corset to have such hand-painted details along with the dyed leaves on the fabric.

Hence, A reflection of Western Culture.
