Now, if you saw my Jester Hat project, then you know I love a good clown outfit. I like the chaos of a clown outfit. The contrasting patterns, the mismatched fabric, and the seemingly random style.
It’s amazing.
This is one of my oldest projects, done slightly after the first Gothic Edwardian Blouse. It’s made of maybe a fifty 10×10-inch corduroy squares from Amazon. The lining is crushed velvet, the top is a waistband from a pair of sweat pants that I hated, and the very bottom of the pants is made of denim.
This Frankenstein project has been a work in progress over the past couple of years. I’ve constantly found myself making alterations, fixing holes, and adding little details.
This was made with a pattern, though the pattern was altered heavily. I started by cutting out the pattern, then the tedious task of sewing each corduroy square to the other was at hand.
After that, it was simply a matter of cutting the lining to fit, cutting the sewn corduroy to the pattern. After it was all sewn together, I wore those pants quite frequently. It wasn’t until about three years into college that I decided to add a few details to the edges and around the pockets.
This gave these clown pants a much more funky look and just added to the overall allure of the clown culture.
These pants are still a staple in my closet to this day, though I am in the works of making another pair of clown pants…
