Odd Fashion for Weird People.

Alice’s Boots

Alice’s Boots were some of the first things I customized in my life. They were a pair of Dr. Martin’s that my mother had bought for me.

My first pair of Docs.

I loved these boots, but felt they were a little too bland for my taste in fashion. So, I went on Amazon and got some leather paint and got to work.

I used a white acrylic paint pen to hand-draw what I wanted to later paint on the boots.

I settled on the Alice in Wonderland theme and got to work.

For some reason, I spent the most time on the left shoe (left side of the post), and it’s definitely obvious. I’m very proud of the caterpillar on the mushroom and Alice below.

I’ve never been very good at painting, and this project brought me a lot of satisfaction. I painted the images them sealed them on the boots with a leather paint sealant; however, after a couple of wears, they have since cracked and peeled away.

Though I still enjoy wearing these shoes, it’s unfortunate that they chipped and cracked away so fast. I wish they had stayed pristine, but unfortunately, that’s just life.

I truly enjoyed painting these shoes, and they’ve been reliable too. This is the same leather paint I later used on my Underworld pants, and these skills have helped me with many more projects since.
