So, as you’ve seen with the overalls, they were ruined. I’ve since looked them over and there isn’t a way to save them, as the integrity of the denim is too damaged.
However…
I’m nothing if not stubborn. I attempted to fix them anyway and wore them to class, where every time I moved I heard denim rip somewhere.
Okay, those overalls are done for.
Unfortunately, I don’t have 5 more pairs of denim pants I can cut up for a project. Heartbreaking, but just the way it is.
Now, while doing a deep dive of my closet, I did happen to find three pairs of pants that somewhat match.
Okay, I love cargo pants. I have been on and endless journey to collect as many pair of cargo pants as possible (try them, you’ll never be able to go back to skinny jeans when you’ve gone cargo). But I also have a pension for thrifting, and you know who happens to always have extra pairs of durable cargo pants for sale?
Military Surplus stores.
And I happen to visit one quite often.
I’ve got 3 pairs of military grade cargo pants that are different camo on each, but somewhat cohesive…
I think You can see where this is going.
I’m on my third day of working on them. I think I’m going to dye them black or a different color. The camo just makes people ask me is I served in the military despite the obviously Frankenstein pants. I’ll stop by Hobby Lobby after class and see what dye I think will work best. I’d like a really ugly, deep green, but black matches most of my closet anyway.
We’ll have to see.
I will post it on here once I’m done making it or dying it. I can’t wait to show you all. I have progress photos and everything! <3
